"Zero enfants dans la rue"

Our mission at UFCS is for zero children to be living on the streets of Congo. We know what is right: children should be kept safe and provided a place to be taken of, to learn, and to grow. We share the gospel with these children, so that they may know the hope of the Lord, and His deep love for them.

Currently, we provide meals, schooling, playtime, as well as medical care when needed for 190 children in our compound in Bunia, Democratic Republic of Congo. Most of the children at the orphanage range from 3 to 18 years old and have been living on the streets for most of their lives and have lacked the access and provision of basic needs like clean clothes, food, and shelter.

62 of our children stay on the compound overnight in our boys' and girls dormitories. These children live full-time at UFCS. They go to school, attend meals in the kitchen, and play games at UFCS.

130 of our children live on the street and come to us from 8am - 6pm everyday for meals, school, and play.

The children that come to us have been displaced by the wars in Congo. Many have lost parents and family members due to the conflict and have been kicked out of their homes. They have no one to care for them and have to fend for themselves.

About Gyslaine Mwiisa

Bunia, Democratic Republic of Congo, where UFCS is located, is Gyslaine's hometown. She was displaced by the conflicts in Congo, fleeing to Uganda in 1997 with her family while pregnant with her second child. After living in Kampala, Uganda for 17 years, she immigrated to Buffalo, New York, USA in 2014.

She founded UFCS in 2017 to give as many children as possible a second chance at life through providing them with the basic needs to ensure prosperity, growth and a bright future.

It was her mission to give back to her home country and meet the needs of the displaced children because she herself has seen firsthand how the effects of war have destroyed the lives of children and left them defenseless.
